Paraguay: Bioceanic Route inaugurates new stretch and completes 159 kilometers

The Bioceanic Route has gained a new 13.6 km asphalt stretch, totaling 159 kilometers of the 277 planned mega-highway so far. The opening of the new section took place on May 20 in the Loma Plata region, in Boquerón.
The authorized route corresponds to subsection 7 and, with this, the megaproject already covers 159.43 kilometers in length.
The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benítez, the country’s Minister of Public Works, Arnoldo Wiens, among other Paraguayan and local authorities.
The Bioceanic Corridor will be 277 kilometers long and its construction employs around 1,500 workers. This is one of the most important road works promoted by the government of Abdo Benítez, with an investment of 445 million dollars.
Once completed, it will link the most important seaports in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans and will generate an additional 2,500 additional jobs, as well as several opportunities for the cities of the Paraguayan Chaco.
Consortium Bioceânico Corredor Rodoviário, formed by the Brazilian Queiroz Galvão SA and the Paraguayan construction company Ocho A SA, is overseeing the works.
