Customs workers strike, delaying Argentina’s agricultural exports

The exports of Argentine grains and their derivatives were affected this Tuesday, June 8, by a seven-hour strike promoted by the customs workers’ union in the country, who claim priority in vaccination against Covid-19.

The protest is carried out by SUPARA (the sole union for customs workers), which said it could hold more demonstrations.

The organization joined the demands of other unions that request vaccination amid the second wave of the coronavirus, which has already left more than 80,000 dead in the country.

“The measure started at 10:00 am, we are receiving the reports from our colleagues… and obviously all the usual tasks of foreign trade work will suffer,” SUPARA spokesman Marcelo Bisurgi told Reuters, highlighting that port terminals and airports have been affected.
