In Paraná, frost burns corn, wheat and sugarcane, and there may be more
Jul, 19, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202128
The coming days will be stressful for Paraná crops. The frost returned this morning and thermometers are expected to dip again in São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Minas Gerais, according to the INMET (the national meteorology institute).
The phenomenon enhances what had already been affected by the frosts of two weeks before.
In Brazil’s second-ranking corn-producing state and first-ranking wheat-producing state, temperatures dropped to below zero in several regions of the South, Southeast, and Center, where the two grains compete with each other.
Below is a history of corn exports by Paranaguá since 2019, complied with by DataLiner:

Wheat is already fully planted and it is at a tricky time for its development. International prices are high due to the mismatch of supply and demand.
