Agribusiness to break new export record

Agribusiness has grown over the years and is vital for Brazil’s international trade, national reserves, and the valuation of agribusiness companies listed on the stock exchange. The trend is to maintain this scenario, with the prospect of a new record being reached in 2021. Sector exports are forecast to exceed US$ 105 billion, above last year’s result of US$ 101 billion, according to a projection by AEB (the Brazilian foreign trade association).

Soybeans remain the flagship of agribusiness, with export forecasts of between 85 million and 87 million tons, valued at around US$38 billion, higher than the US$28.6 billion billed last year for 82.9 million tons. Despite this, after six years of driving the country’s total exports, soy should give way to iron ore this year. The behavior of commodity prices will dictate the performance of international trade.

Even so, Brazil remains the world’s largest exporter of soybeans.
