Pork exports reach 102,700 tons in July

Brazilian pork exports (considering all products, including fresh and processed) reached 102,700 tons in July, 2.2% more than the volume registered in the same period of 2020, when 100,400 tons were shipped. Revenue totaled US$ 246.4 million, 21.3% higher than the US$ 203.1 million achieved in July last year. The information is from ABPA (the Brazilian animal protein  association).

Pork exports reached 665,400 tons year to date, an increase of 14.76% compared to the 579,800 tons sold in the same period of 2020. With that, the revenue in the period reached US$ 1.596 billion, 24.8% greater than the US$ 1.279 billion.registered between January and July of last year.

Among the main export destinations, China imported 348,400 tons in the first seven months of 2021, 23.5% above the figure shipped in 2020 in the same period. Another highlight is Chile, with imports of 37,7010 tons (+80.3% in the same period), in addition to Uruguay, with 25,000 tons (+8.6%), Angola, with 18,200 tons ( +4%), Argentina, with 16,200 tons (+85.2%) and the Philippines, with 13,500 tons (+197%). The health picture in Asia continues to pressure the regional demand for animal protein from other nations, including Brazil. At the same time, the countries of South America have been looking for support in the productive sector to complement their domestic offer, favoring the expectation of reaching export levels at year end that are once again above 1 million tons”, analyzes Ricardo Santin, president of the ABPA.
