Furniture and mattress exports increased 72.1% in the first half

Brazilian exports of furniture and mattresses registered an increase of 72.1% in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. From January to June this year, foreign sales of these goods totaled US$ 406 million, against revenue of US$ 236 million registered in the same period of 2020.
In twelve months between July 2020 and June 2021, exports of furniture and mattresses totaled US$ 616 million. The data are from BIMOVEL (the Brazilian furniture industry association).
According to ABIMOVEL, the rupture suffered in the first half of 2020, when there was a drop of 17.4% in sector exports, boosted the accumulated in this comparison upwards. In the last 12 months, the number of furniture imports increased 41.3%.
This movement returns the lost volume to exporting companies, increasing the share of Brazilian furniture and mattresses in the international market.
