YTD trade balance registers US$ 52.78 bi surplus, up 43.1%

The Brazilian trade balance (sum of imports and exports) registered a surplus of US$ 52.78 billion in the accumulated result for the year up to the first week of September, an increase of 43.1% in the daily average compared to the period from January to September 2020. The trade balance for the period was US$ 332.53 billion, an increase of 35.9%.

Current trade flows show the results of exports, which add up to US$ 192.66 billion, up 36.8%, and imports, which increased 34.6%, reaching US$ 139.87 billion. The data were released this Monday (Sept. 6) by SECEX (the foreign trade secretariat of the Ministry of Finance).

Exports in the month rose 42.8%, reaching US$ 3.72 billion, while imports rose 62.2%, reaching US$ 3.05 billion. The trade balance, therefore, registered a surplus of US$ 673.2 million, down 7.3% compared to September 2020, while the trade flow totaled US$ 6.76 billion, increasing 51%.
