Container ship stopovers at Brazilian ports fall 10% YoY in August

In August, Brazilian ports registered the docking of 604 container ships, a drop of 0.50% compared to July 2021 and almost 10% compared to August 2020.
In Santos, there were 154 dockings, an increase of 5.47% compared to July 2021 and a drop of 4.34% compared to August 2020.

In the first eight months of the year, Brazilian ports registered 4,941 container ship calls, against 5,043 in the same period of 2020, a drop of 2.02%.
The Port of Itaqui had the largest proportional growth in the number of stopovers in the period: 38.1%, followed by the Port of Fortaleza (+22.5%) and Navegantes (+14.41%). The biggest falls were in the ports of Natal (-12%) and Itajaí (-10.84%). Santos, the largest port in Latin America, had a 1.88% drop in the number of calls in the first eight months of 2021 compared to January to August 2020.
