Pork exports up 11.9% in October; record second half expected

Pork exports (considering all in natura and processed products) reached 99,100  tons in October according to surveys carried out by ABPA (the Brazilian animal protein association). The data represents an increase of 11.9% over October 2020, when 88,500 tons were exported.

October exports were valued at US$ 217.9 million, an increase of  9.3% over the US$ 199.4 million from October 2020.

YTD pork sales are already approaching 1 million tons. Between January and October, 967,900 tons were shipped, a volume 13.4% greater than that registered in the first ten months of 2020, when 853,400 tons were shipped.

Export revenue is also up, reaching US$ 2.279 billion, an increase of  21.5% over the same period last year, with US$ 1.876 billion.

China continues to be the main destination for pork exports, with total imports of 481,900 tons between January and October, a volume 13.9% higher than that registered in the same period last year. Other highlights are Chile, importing 52,500 tons (+56.5%), Japan, importing 11,300 tons (+19.1%), and the USA, importing 9700 tons (+43.4% ).
