Siemens Energy has signed a contract with Gás Natural Açu (GNA) to supply gas turbines for the GNA II plant, the second thermal plant at Porto do Açu, in the north of Rio de Janeiro.
The scope of the agreement provides for the delivery, by Siemens Energy, of the entire energy island, which consists of three high-efficiency gas turbines, one steam turbine, four electric generators, and three steam generators with heat recovery, in addition to instrumentation and control systems. The services offered by Siemens Energy will also cover the long-term operation and maintenance of the plant, including advanced remote monitoring.
After the second unit begins operations, the Açu complex will be the largest in Latin America in terms of thermal generation, with an installed capacity of 3 gigawatts (GW).
