The arrival and departure of products transported in wagons at the ports of Paraná are on the rise. Out of the 53,054,946 tons of cargo handled from January to November 2021, 20.1% were by rail. This percentage is equivalent to 10,669,705 tons of goods, ranging from different segments, handled by the modal.

Out of the remaining cargoes, 40,927,435 tons were transported by trucks (77.1%) and 1,457,806  tons of liquids (2.7%) by pipelines. Even though the volume of cargoes handled in the first eleven months is now 1% lower than before, the share of the two alternatives to road transport is greater.

Last year, out of the 53,526,635 tons of cargo handled from January to November, 81,6% (43,703,550 tons) either arrived or departed through roads; 16.9% (9,025,283 tons) by rail; and 1,5% (797,803 tons) by pipelines.

This increase in the participation of the rail modal was observed, mainly, in the transport of soybeans, bran, fertilizers, petroleum derivatives, containerized cargo, wheat, and sugar.
