Trade balance has a deficit of US$ 619 million in the 2nd week of January

The Brazilian trade balance registered a deficit of US$ 619 million in the second week of January (10th to 16th). According to data issued by the Ministry of Economy’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) on Monday, the result was computed by deducting US$ 4.115 billion in exports from US$ 4.735 billion in import prices.

In January, the trade balance accumulated a surplus of US$ 805.7 million up to the 16th, with exports worth US$ 9.938 billion and imports costing US$ 9.132 billion.

In January, exports increased by 33% on a daily average compared to the same month the previous year, with a 96.6% gain in agriculture, a 3.9% reduction in the extractive industry, and a 41.2% increase in product sales in the transformation industry.

The daily average of imports increased 20.4% in the period, with a decrease of 22.0% in Agriculture, an increase of 218.9% in the Extractive Industry, and an increase of 13.3% in products from the Manufacturing Industry.
