Cotton: Mato Grosso exports 700.8 thousand tons in the 2021-22 harvest

From August 2021 to January 2022, Brazilian cotton exports totaled 1.03 million tons. The crop exports are down 30.67% from the same period compared to the previous harvest season. The decrease in shipments was caused by lower plume production, as well as logistical issues such as port congestion and lack of containers, which have been present since the second half of last year.
Mato Grosso was responsible for 68.02% of total exports, totaling 700.84 thousand tons, a decrease of 25.96% compared to the previous harvest.
The expectation for next month is that shipments will remain at the same level as in January – 142,000 t – since weekly data already indicate volumes similar to those seen last year.
