On February 25th, Santos Brasil set a new automobile export record in a single call at its Vehicle Terminal (TEV) in Santos. In slightly over 24 hours, 5,209 units boarded the ship Glovis Solomon.
The South Korean-flagged vessel left the port on the morning of the 26th.
The vessel transported 5,204 light automobiles and five heavy vehicles (including excavators used in civil construction) to South American markets such as the ports of San Antonio in Chile, Callao in Peru, Manta in Ecuador, and Buenaventura in Colombia. The previous record had been 4,207 units.
According to the terminal’s manager, Vitor Lousada, attaining such results was only possible thanks to the terminal’s operational and storage capacity. TEV is the largest vehicle terminal in Brazil, with an operating capacity of 300,000 cars per year.
