Emergent Cold Latin America (Emergent Cold LatAm), the newest cold storage logistics operator in Latin America, announced the acquisition of Polo Logístico de Frío (PLF), a significant player in the Uruguayan market.

This merger marks Emergent LatAm’s entry into the Uruguayan market, a central logistics hub in Latin America. It plans to expand PLF’s facilities to double its current size, creating operational improvements and a broader service offering.

Founded in 2018 by Daniel Tugentman, PLF operates a unit located approximately 30 kilometers from the Port of Montevideo, with room for future expansions. The company offers a range of warehousing and value-added services, including bonded warehousing capabilities.

With PLF’s assets, Emergent now operates 14 cold storage facilities in six countries, with another three under construction. In particular, Uruguay is a crucial component of Emergent LatAm’s investment strategy, given its importance in the global food trade.

The country is the third-largest beef exporter in Latin America and enjoys trade relations around the world. The Port of Montevideo is emerging as one of the leading cargo routes in the region, with three terminals and expansion projects on the make.
