Vehicle exports up 24.6% in May year-on-year

Data published on Tuesday, June 7, by the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) show that exports done by automakers, whose primary destination is Argentina, were up 24.6% in May compared to the same period in 2021.

Comparing May’s figures with April’s, vehicle exports were up 2.8%.

As a result, shipments have reached 198,900 units in total since the beginning of the year, 19.4% more than in the first five months of 2021 and 27% more in value, thanks to the excellent performance of Brazilian products in markets such as Colombia and Chile, among other Latin American countries.

“The consistency of market expansion, one step per month since the beginning of the year, for sales and production, is impressive. Exports have already started the year on a strong note and will continue to do so. We are quite hopeful about maintaining this good pace of recovery because the historical tendency in our industry is one of the second semester being stronger than the first,” stated Márcio de Lima Leite, President of ANFAVEA.

According to the entity, vehicle manufacturers opened 97 jobs in May, employing 101,800 people at the end of the month.
