Brazilian grape exports are slow in the first half of 2022. According to Hortifruti/Cepea, the frequent rains in the São Francisco Valley (PE/BA) in the summer affected the volume and quality of the berries.

According to data from Secex (Secretariat of Foreign Trade), Brazil sent only 8,960 tonnes of grapes from January to May this year, a significant drop of 50% compared to last year.

In May, in particular, there was a partial resumption of grape exports, resulting in the largest monthly volume exported in 2022, totaling 4.01 thousand tonnes, due to a minor recovery in the supply of seedless white grapes destined for overseas markets.

Despite this, the volume was 43 percent lower than in May last year, but it exceeded the amount exported in the same month of 2020 by 19%.

It is worth remembering that 2021 was a year of excellent performance in Brazilian grape shipments, given the good supply and quality, due to favorable conditions.
