Bolsonaro pledges to introduce truckers card in 90 days

Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro announced the introduction of “truckers cards” for purchasing fuel at a fixed rate not subject to price variations. The government pledged to release the new cards within 90 days from yesterday. The announcement came during a live broadcast on the official Bolsonaro Facebook page.

Under the new arrangement, every time a lorry driver swipes the truckers card, the diesel price will be locked in for the whole period of a cargo’s journey. Thus the drivers are exempt from price fluctuations throughout the journey even if it lasts several days.
