Week 202245

Two large meatpackers, Minuano and Aurora Alimentos, had been impeded from selling chicken to China since 2020 when news circulated that Covid-19 was hitting workers in many Brazilian industries. At that time, the Chinese feared that the virus would ship along with the chicken meat and worsen contamination throughout the world.

The two meatpackers that China suspended are in the municipalities of Xaxim and Lajeado. But this week, the industrial units were again authorized to ship products to the Chinese market. With the officialization by the Ministry of Agriculture, which was notified this Monday (11/07) by the General Administration of Customs of China, the expectation is that shipments from these units will resume.

The return of the flow to the Asian country should stimulate production around the factories, where poultry farming is very strong. Brazilian exports of chicken meat this year are doing very well and are heading towards a new record, also because of China, which is the leading buyer of these products.
