Revenue from Brazilian exports of poultry genetics dropped to US$ 15.4 million, down 5.9% from October 2021, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). The volume shipped reached 1,464 tonnes, down 8.1%.
From January to October, sales of hatching eggs and day-old chicks totaled US$ 139.4 million, an increase of 12.5% compared to the first ten months of last year. However, in volume, there was a drop of 3.2% to 12.3 thousand tonnes.
Mexico on the lead
Mexico is the primary buyer of Brazilian poultry genetics, importing approximately 5,500 tonnes from January to October, 60.9% more than in the same period in 2021.
“Because Brazil has never registered a single case of avian influenza on its territory, the country remains a relevant export outlet for genetic material, expanding its exports, particularly to destinations in America and the Middle East,” notes ABPA’s director of markets, Luís Rua.
