A different kind of vessel docked at the port of Rio de Janeiro on January 26, the “Aqua Felix,” the first of the Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 7011 class, developed by the Duch group Damen. An FCS vessel is an alternative to changing crew transportation by helicopters.
Launched in 2021, the ship arrived in Rio de Janeiro for the first time. It stayed in the city until late afternoon on Friday (27) to be presented by the shipowner to companies in the offshore energy market.
Up to 150 people
With the superstructure and hull made of aluminum, the FCS 7011 has 73.6 meters of LOA (length overall) and 11.2 meters of breadth (width), weighing 105 tonnes. The vessel can sail at speeds of up to 40 knots and can accommodate up to 150 people.
The vessel is outfitted with a number of motion compensation technologies to ensure safe crew transfers in conditions with wave heights of up to three meters.
Another differential is the ability to transfer more personnel over longer distances and serve several facilities in a single round trip, reducing time and operating costs.
