Hidrovias do Brasil – HBSA celebrated the maiden voyage of Brazil’s largest fluvial convoy, launched after a series of training procedures to ensure safety and navigation efficiency. The journey started last week, with the vessel leaving the Private Use Terminal (TUP) in Barcarena, bound for the Cargo Transshipment Station (ETC) in Itaituba, both owned by the company, where it will be loaded with grains.
The river convoy is made up of 35 barges, capable of transporting up to 70,000 tonnes. It is 346 meters long and 75 meters wide. This new compound vessel increased the company’s transport capacity by 40% compared to the old 25-barge convoys. With this, it will be possible to move more cargo in a single trip. This convoy is equivalent to 1,666 trucks per trip.
