A few hours after a second night of Russian drone raids on Ukraine’s ports on the Danube River, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Sochi on the Black Sea for an official visit to Vladimir Putin, where they are expected to discuss the possibility of renewing the deal that allowed the passage of Ukrainian grains in the region, which Russia called off in early July.
According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu, both Erdogan and Putin admitted that the renewal of the agreement is on the agenda of discussions, in addition to other agreements concerning energy transfers between the two countries. According to sources, Turkey, which is a member of NATO, hopes to use the grain agreement as a basis for restarting peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv.
