The Russian government has issued sanitary approval to receive eggs and derived products from Brazil. Exportations now depend on the accreditation of establishments.

The opening of this new market has the potential to further expand trade between the two countries. Agricultural exports to Russia totaled over US$1.25 billion in 2023.

Brazil sent off approximately 50 thousand tonnes of eggs to the international market last year, with exports reaching US$186 million, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa).

With this latest announcement, Brazilian agribusiness obtained its 20th market opening in 15 countries this year alone.

Since the beginning of 2024, new markets have been opened for exports across five continents: bovine embryos and semen to Botswana; gelatin and collagen to the United States and El Salvador; tilapia fingerlings and animal recycling products to the Philippines; live cattle, bovine embryos, and bovine semen to Pakistan; breeding animals to Mexico; acai powder to India; fishery products to Australia; mesenchymal stem cell-based products (for dogs, cats, and horses) for therapeutic purposes in Costa Rica; green coffee to Zambia; live cattle to Oman; beef extract and sheep meat and products to Singapore; cultivated fisheries and derivatives to South Africa; and now eggs and egg products to Russia and other countries in the Eurasian Economic Union.
