The Santos Port Authority (APS) convened with representatives from the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), the National Waterborne Transport Agency (Antaq), and the Internal Port of Santos Railway Management Association (Ag-Fips) on May 20. This meeting, held at ANTT headquarters in Brasília, marks the first of a series of biannual discussions focused on expanding the railway capacity of the Port of Santos.

Investment Plans Unveiled

During the meeting, Ag-Fips presented the planned investments outlined in the contract for transferring the port’s internal railway network to APS. In April, ANTT and Antaq signed a Cooperation Agreement to jointly supervise and operate the railway network within the Port of Santos.

Ag-Fips, an association forged out of Rumo, MRS Logística, and VLI, aims to increase the Port of Santos’s rail throughput capacity to 100 million tonnes per year. The investment plan, exceeding R$1 billion, includes expanding the number of railway lines, constructing road-rail crossing viaducts, building pedestrian walkways, and upgrading the railway stop on the port’s right bank.
