Chile salmon exports climb despite drop in US shipments
May, 29, 2024 Posted by Sylvia SchandertWeek 202422
Chile’s first-quarter exports of salmon and trout rose by slightly over 10 percent year-on-year as a spike in deliveries to Japan and Brazil more than offset a decline in shipments to the US market.
Chile exported 224,752 metric tons of salmonids in the first three months of 2024, according to data from the Chile Salmon Council, a trade body. The country is the world’s second-largest salmon producer behind Norway and exports most of its production to the United States, Brazil and Japan.
