The Norwegian-flagged ship Antarctic Provider has brought 12,469 tonnes of krill at the Port of Montevideo, according to Uruguay’s National Port Administration (ANP). The vessel is operated by Aker BioMarine, a Norwegian company specializing in fishing and biotechnology, focused on capturing krill in Antarctic waters.

The krill cargo, destined for salmon producers and biotechnological uses, was chosen to be unloaded at Montevideo due to Aker BioMarine’s logistics center located in the Uruguayan capital. From there, the krill will be transferred to the company’s production plant in Houston, United States.
