Paraguay’s exports of manufactured goods of industrial origin (MOI) soared to US$544.1 million by the end of April, marking an impressive 11.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023, as per official statistics.
This surge was primarily fueled by heightened shipments of aluminum, insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, textiles, cables, and other electrical conductors, among a range of other products.
The total shipment volume reached 179.4 thousand tons, reflecting a robust 9.4% uptick from the previous year’s figures.
Paraguay’s exports of manufactured products of agricultural and industrial origin collectively amounted to US$1.826 billion in the first quarter of 2024, marking a substantial 9% growth compared to the corresponding period in 2023.
Data from the Central Bank of Paraguay’s Foreign Trade Bulletin revealed that total exports until April’s end reached US$3.887 billion.
Analyzing the exports by processing level, the BCP report underscored a 7.5% increase in the exported value of manufactured products of agricultural origin (MOA), totaling US$1,281.9 million. This uptrend was chiefly attributed to escalated shipments of soybean meal, parboiled rice, beef, and soybean oil.
The year-to-date shipment volume of manufactured agricultural origin products surged to 1,567.9 thousand tons until April, marking a significant 25.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, soybean flour and oil emerged as the key drivers of this growth.
These data reveal a favorable outlook for Paraguayan exports, underscoring the resilience and competitiveness of the country’s industrial and agricultural sectors in the global market.
