Jun, 20, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202425
Paddy rice exports from Brazil reached 103.3 thousand tonnes in May this year, marking a 47.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2023 when they totaled 197.5 thousand tons. This information was released on Thursday (June 20) by the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz).
In terms of revenue, the volume shipped in May amounted to US$41.8 million, reflecting a 38.6% decline from the previous year’s figure of US$68.1 million.
The data, sourced from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) under the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC), underscores the downturn in export performance.
The chart below shows the export volume of rice from Brazil, measured in tonnes, between January 2021 and April 2024. The data comes from DataLiner.
