Brazilian agribusiness exports reach US$ 82.39 billion in first haf of year

Brazilian sales of agribusiness products to foreign markets amounted to $15.20 billion in June 2024, marking an increase compared to May 2024, which reached $15.02 billion.
Brazilian grain exports rose from 14.96 million tonnes in June 2023 to 15.07 million tonnes in June 2024, an increase of 0.7%. Besides the increase in grain export volume, there was a rise in the quantities exported of cane sugar (+335.1 thousand tonnes), cellulose (+182.8 thousand tonnes), uncarded and uncombed cotton (+100.1 thousand tonnes), soybean meal (+84.0 thousand tonnes), and green coffee (+64.6 thousand tonnes). Based on these data, the quantity index for agribusiness exports showed a positive growth of 4.5%.
Over the past 12 months, agribusiness exports totaled $166.20 billion, reflecting a growth of 2.4% compared to the previous year. Between July 2023 and June 2024, agribusiness products accounted for 48.6% of all Brazilian exports, a 0.2 percentage point increase between July 2022 and June 2023.
Brazilian agribusiness exports reached $82.39 billion in the first half of 2024, the second-highest value recorded in the historical series.
During this period, the top five sectors of Brazilian agribusiness stood out among exports. The soybean complex led with $33.53 billion, representing 40.7% of total agribusiness exports. The meat sector followed, exporting $11.81 billion, equivalent to 14.3% of agribusiness exports. The sugar-alcohol complex recorded $9.22 billion, accounting for 11.2%, while forest products totaled $8.34 billion, representing 10.1%. Finally, the coffee sector reached $5.31 billion, accounting for 6.4% of exports. Together, these sectors were responsible for 82.8% of Brazilian agribusiness exports.
The meat sector, the second-largest exporter, grew by 1.6% compared to 2023, reaching $11.81 billion. Beef stood out, representing 48.1% of the exported value, with $5.14 billion, an increase of 18.3%. The quantity of fresh beef exported was a record, totaling 1.14 million tons, a growth of 29.1%.

Additionally, other products showed notable performances. Uncarded and uncombed cotton reached a record $2.68 billion, an increase of 236%, with 1.39 million tons exported, a growth of 228%. Orange juice also set a record, with $1.25 billion in exports, an increase of 24%.
