Minas Gerais Farming Exports Surpass US$ 14 Billion in 2024

Agribusiness exports from Minas Gerais grew by 17.8% in 2024, reaching US$ 14.17 billion by October. This achievement reflects the state’s competitiveness and product quality, alongside a 10.9% increase in exported volume. Products from Minas Gerais reached 169 countries, cementing the state as a global reference. Agribusiness accounted for 40.3% of Minas Gerais’ total exports.
According to Antônio de Salvo, president of Sistema Faemg Senar, this performance is the result of rural producers’ dedication and strategies combining technical assistance, training, investments in technology and research, along with the quality and diversity of products from Minas Gerais. “Even in the face of challenges, the sector reaffirmed its commitment to global food security, consolidating Minas Gerais as a reference in global competitiveness and sustainability in agriculture,” he stated.
Key Exported Products
The coffee complex led exports, accounting for 43.7% of the total, followed by:
Soy complex: 22.1%
Sugar-energy sector: 14.3%
Meats (beef, poultry, pork, and derivatives): 8.9%
Forestry products (pulp, wood, and paper): 6.7%
“We continue to generate revenue for the economy, transforming it into development, health, and security for the entire population,” concluded Antônio de Salvo.
Gross Production Value (GPV)
The Gross Production Value (GPV) of Minas Gerais agribusiness was estimated at R$150.33 billion, a 7.6% increase compared to 2023. Of this total, the agricultural sector contributed R$95.6 billion (67.6%), while the livestock sector accounted for R$54.76 billion (36.4%).

Dairy farming: R$ 25.96 billion
Soy: R$ 16.24 billion
Beef cattle farming: R$ 15.66 billion
Sugarcane: R$ 11.45 billion
