The Santos Port Authority (APS) participated this Tuesday (11) in launching a new application to strengthen security at Brazilian ports. The Santos complex will be the first to implement the technology introduced by the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) during an event at the city’s Technology Park.

The new platform, OiBR, will replace the Oi-Cepai app, centralizing and modernizing the registration of port security and protection incidents. The system compiles information and consolidates data to guide strategic decision-making for operational safety and port security measures.

According to Ernesto Henriques da Costa Jr., APS’s occupational safety manager, who contributed to the platform’s development, the system will improve the company’s response efficiency. “By incorporating intelligence into monitoring and security actions, we can better assess incidents and prevent false alarms, allowing the Port Authority to allocate resources more effectively,” he explained.

Eduardo Nery Machado, president of Antaq—the national agency responsible for regulating and overseeing waterway services—highlighted the benefits of the new solution. “This platform will enable information sharing and integration, helping all stakeholders involved in port operations respond more quickly to incidents. He added that structured data makes it easier to understand problems and address their root causes rather than just their symptoms,” he added.

Innovation

Following the initial implementation at the ports of Santos and São Sebastião—within the scope of the State Commission for the Prevention of Accidents and Incidents at the Port Complex of Santos and São Sebastião (Cepai-SP)—Antaq plans to expand the use of OiBR to other port facilities across the country. According to Ernesto, choosing the Port of Santos as the launch site further cements its leadership in the national sector.

“Given its significance and scale, the Port of Santos has always been a pioneer in adopting new logistics, security, and operational technologies. Brazil and the world look to Santos for inspiration, and APS is committed to continuing its contribution to the sector’s development nationwide,” the manager emphasized.

In addition to APS’s Occupational Safety Manager and members of the Port Guard, Adilson Luiz Gonçalves, a member of APS’s Board of Directors, attended the launch event.
