With an average production of 194,148 tons, Rondônia has emerged as Brazil’s second-largest producer of robusta coffee and the top producer in the North region. The challenge now is to sustain this growth, consolidate existing markets, and explore new opportunities, ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of Rondônia’s coffee sector in the international market.

In 2024, for example, Rondônia exported 35,056 tons of coffee, solidifying its position as one of Brazil’s leading coffee-exporting states. This volume represents a 645% increase compared to the previous year, generating a revenue of US$ 130.99 million and placing the state among the five largest coffee exporters in the country, surpassing Paraná.

This remarkable growth is attributed to a series of strategic initiatives implemented by the state government in partnership with the State Secretariat of Agriculture (Seagri), the Rural Technical Assistance and Extension Authority of Rondônia (Emater-RO), and the State Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedec). Investments in technology, farmer training, and modernization of agricultural practices have been crucial in improving the quality and productivity of coffee in Rondônia.

The 1st Technological Fair of Rondônia’s Coffees, held in October 2024 in Cacoal, was a key event for disseminating innovations and technological solutions among local producers. Additionally, participation in the “Taste and Feel Rondônia Coffee Fest” in London expanded the international visibility of Rondônia’s coffee, opening new business opportunities.

The coffee seedling distribution program has also been fundamental to this growth. Between 2019 and 2024, over 2 million coffee seedlings were distributed to farmers, renewing plantations and expanding cultivated areas. This initiative boosted production and enhanced the quality of coffee intended for export.

Rondônia’s main coffee export destinations include Vietnam, Germany, Belgium, the United States, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Algeria, and India. Diversifying consumer markets strengthens the state’s global competitiveness and ensures the efficient distribution of production.

The economic impact of this export record is significant. The coffee industry generates jobs and income across various regions of Rondônia, benefiting approximately 20,000 producers involved in the supply chain. Furthermore, the export revenue strengthens the state’s economy and improves Brazil’s trade balance.
