Port of Paranaguá hits new record shipment of grains in a single ship

This week, the Port of Paranaguá is performing the second largest bulk operation in its history in a single ship. There will be 89,000 tons of soybean meal loaded on the 254-meter-long Kang Xin Hai, which is headed to the port of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The operation is transporting the equivalent of 3,000 trucks of product and the shipment will last seven days.

Under Panamanian flag, the giant docked on 11/13, coming from Singapore. By the end of the morning of Monday (11/18), 50,581 tons of grain had been loaded on the ship and is expected to set sail on Tuesday (11/19).

“The choice of Paranaguá for such a movement considers that we have capacity and agility of flow. It is not just about receiving the ship and having a dock structure, but also all the warehouses, conveyor belts, organized arrival of trucks, and quality in the classification of products,” highlights the Portos do Paraná Operations Director, Luiz Teixeira .

Loading is carried out at Super Berth 2014, which operates with the pool system, which is unique in Brazil and allows the same ship to receive goods from different producers. The cargo that will fill Kang Xin Hai’s holds will come from three terminals: Cotriguaçu (25,000 tons), Coamo (48,500 tons), and Cargill (15,500 tons).

History – In May this year, the Port of Paranaguá received the Chinese ship Lan Hua Hai, also 254 meters long (the equivalent of two football fields such as Maracanã Stadium). The difference between the Chinese ship and the Panamanian is in the shipment. The first shipped 90,000 tons, one thousand more tons than the one that docked last week.
