The federal revenue service located five shipments of cocaine at the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, in less than 48 hours. In total, 681 kg of the drug were intercepted in operations on the 25th and 26th of November. According to the tax authorities, no one has been arrested so far.
The biggest seizure of the period occurred on Friday: 285 kg of cocaine were found in a container bound for the Netherlands. The drug was hidden in the floor of a shipment of concentrated orange juice.
According to authorities, so that the lawful product was not destroyed, the container was emptied and the contents were placed on a trailer. The teams then drilled small holes at the bottom of the container until the drug was found.
The second biggest bust took place on the same day when a 239 kg stash of cocaine was located in a paper shipment bound for France. On the same day, another operation seized 59 kg of the drug in a shipment of animal products destined for Belgium.
On Thursday (25), two other seizures added up to 98 kg of cocaine. The drug was found in two refrigerated containers of a shipment of thousands of cases of Tahiti lemon. In the first, the team located 45 kg, and in the second, 53 kg.
The federal revenue service points out that the federal police will proceed with the investigations. So far, there have been no arrests for the seizures carried out.
