The implementation of advanced technology, including artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G connectivity, has revolutionized the monitoring of vehicle entry and exit in the Port of Suape. The outcomes and solutions associated with this new trend were recently presented at the MPN Forum, a national seminar dedicated to the mobile private networks market.
Developed in collaboration with Embratel and the National Secretariat for Ports and Waterway Transportation, this project aims to drive innovation in the port sector. Specifically, a private 5G Standalone (SA) network operating in the 3.5GHz band has been established in Pernambuco. The project focuses on optimizing the logistical processes involved in identifying and monitoring vehicles within the port yards by leveraging the capabilities of Claro’s fifth-generation mobile internet and intelligent cameras integrated with the Video Analytics solution.
Equipped with 5G-enabled cameras, real-time scanning of vehicle tags and collection of chassis numbers occur simultaneously. This automated process enables seamless data recording on a centralized platform, capturing essential details such as arrival time, parking location, and departure time. As a result, operators gain comprehensive insights into the efficiency of logistical activities, facilitating precise tracking of each vehicle’s movements.
Vehicle hub
The Vehicle Hub at the Industrial Port Complex of Suape has witnessed a notable increase in the handling of utility and passenger cars. Compared to the same period last year, there has been a significant rise in the volume of this specific type of cargo. Throughout the first half of this year, the Port of Suape facilitated the passage of many vehicles for export, import, and transshipment purposes.
Suape serves as a crucial gateway for vehicles manufactured at the producing sites in Pernambuco and Minas Gerais, which go to various countries, including Argentina, Panama, Mexico, Colombia, and the United States. Furthermore, the port plays a pivotal role in importing vehicles from renowned brands such as Toyota, General Motors (GM), and Volkswagen. Additionally, Suape serves as a strategic transshipment hub for vehicles manufactured in Uruguay and Argentina, which are subsequently distributed to various countries across the continent, accentuating its significance in the region.
