AAPA LATAM Announces Collaboration with World Bank

Today, for the first time, AAPA LATAM announced a collaboration with the World Bank. Under the partnership, the World Bank will provide expertise, guidance, and support with respect to this year’s XXXI AAPA LATAM Convention of Ports. They will also participate in LATAM programming specific to their efforts to provide financial support to struggling Latin American ports and initiatives to help low- and middle-income countries achieve economic growth.

Both of our organizations strive for investment in this vital industry, solutions that combat the challenges facing all aspects of the port industry, and technological advancement of Latin American ports,” said Chris Connor, AAPA President and CEO.

The Latin American community plays an integral role in the global port industry, and this year’s LATAM Convention is a demonstration of AAPA’s commitment to a long-term partnership that supports Latin American industry growth and success. René Puché, President of the Port of Barranquilla, is excited about this new partnership as well saying, “As the host port for the AAPA LATAM Convention of Ports this year, the Port of Barranquilla is thrilled to have the World Bank join us in Colombia. This type of partnership shows AAPA’s commitment to our Latin American port community and denotes an exciting future for both our ports and our partnership with AAPA.”

The XXXI AAPA LATAM Convention of Ports will be hosted by the Port of Barranquilla in Colombia on December 4-6, 2023. The cutting-edge program will focus on issues critical to Latin America—Offshore Wind Development, Digitalization, Smart Ports Technology, Cyber Security, Private Investment, Project Development, Engineering, 5G Network Development, Microgrid Development, and Hydrogen Fuels.
