
ABPA: Chicken meat exports grew 16.4% in July

Brazilian exports of chicken meat (fresh and processed) had their best monthly result in 2021 and the third-highest in the history of the sector. In the month, shipments totaled 424,400 tons, a growth of 16.4% compared to July 2020, when sales abroad totaled 364,600 tons. The information comes from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), which prepared the survey based on data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), of the Ministry of Economy.
Exports in July generated US$ 739.2 million, 48.4% more than in July last year (US$ 498.2 million). According to ABPA, the last record of exports above US$ 700 million in a single month is from July 2018.
China led purchases in the month, with 63,100 tons, an annual increase of 4.5%. Next, appear Japan (35,700 tons) and the United Arab Emirates (34,000 tons).

In 2021, chicken meat exports reached 2.67 million tons, a volume 7.98% higher than in the same period in 2020 (2.47 million tons). These shipments generated US$ 4.22 billion, or 15.7% more than in the period between January and July 2020, when revenue was US$ 3.64 billion.
