The Açu port, Casa dos Ventos, and Comerc Eficiência, the energy efficiency company of the Comerc Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop a hydrogen-based sustainable industrial project at the Rio de Janeiro state port. The deal was announced on November 17th.
The agreement allows the companies to conduct feasibility studies to prepare for installing a production unit in Latin America’s largest private industrial port complex. The project includes the construction of a green hydrogen plant with a capacity of 2GW and an area of 50 hectares.
According to Lucas Araripe, Director of New Business at Casa dos Ventos, Green Hydrogen will play a key role in elevating Brazil as one of the world’s largest exporters of renewable energies. “The Joint Venture with TotalEnergies is part of this fast-paced change scenario. The agreement with the Açu port and Comerc Eficiência makes reality an opportunity to apply the know-how we have developed over the years.”
