Added together, fresh fruit exports from Chile total USD 4.060m between January and June

In August, Chile’s Secretariat for Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa) published a report with fruit export data from January to June 2022. Based on what was reported, 2 million tonnes of fresh fruit were mobilized, equivalent to US$ 4,060 million FOB, an increase in the volume of 5% and in value of 6.3%, when compared to the same period in 2021.
The fruit most exported was cherry, with a volume of 258 thousand tonnes, equivalent to USD 1.568 million FOB, up 7.3% in volume and 32% in value from last year. The most important destination for this type of cargo was China, whose market accounted for 90% of what was sold by Chile.
Table grapes ranked second in importance, with 605 thousand tonnes equivalent to US$ 942 million FOB. Shipments were up 16% in volume and 3.6% in value compared to the same period in 2021. Its primary buyer was the United States, accounting for 50% of the total value of Chilean exports, followed by China (share of 13.5%).
Blueberries ranked third, registering shipments of 90 thousand tonnes equivalent to US$ 393.6 million FOB, a decrease of -6% in volume and -18.7% in value over the same period of the previous year. These fruits were shipped mainly to the United States (48%) and the Netherlands (21%).
With regard to apples, 429 thousand tonnes were sent to international markets, equivalent to USD 380.2 million FOB, registering a decrease of -6% in volume and -14% in value.
These four species represent 81% of the total value of fresh fruit exported in the given period.
