After having remained closed and with subsequent limited operations, the Yantian Port in China announced that it has now reached a daily movement of 40,000 TEU since the opening of all berths and yards.
“Since June 24, the Port of Yantian has resumed operations in all of its 20 berths. Today, it handles around 40,000 TEU, and around 20,000 trucks pass through its gates daily, returning to normal levels. All the major shipping companies resumed their calls at Yantian, and, most importantly, the port received many new services. All of this is a testament to the confidence of cargo owners and shipping companies in Yantian’s emergency preparedness and resilience. The full recovery of Yantian terminal operations has helped to keep international trade and the global supply chain functioning normally,” said Hutchison Ports, operator of the site.
The following chart, made with DataLiner resources, shows the cargo movement between the East Coast of South America and the Port of Yantian from January 2019:

The company explained that, at the end of June, Yantian received more than 20 new international services and will have three new routes in July, which could be expanded.
The port operator also detailed that in June, Yantian received 18 new RTGCs, eight automated and remotely controlled. The new generation of wharf cranes favors the promotion of safety and stability of the operation, improves the predictability of the operation process, and improves the working environment.
