Brazilian trading company AMAGGI announced that it will build a new fertilizer mixing plant in the Portochuelo terminal complex in Porto Velho (RO). A leader in Brazilian agribusiness, the company recently announced a total investment of R$ 102 million aimed at increasing the capacity for receiving, storing, mixing, and distributing fertilizers in the northern region of the country.

According to the executive president of AMAGGI, Judiney Carvalho, the new fertilizer mixing unit will have a capacity of 200,000 tons a year. It will be built simultaneously as a rear warehouse – with a static capacity of 40,000 tons. According to the company’s schedule, the structures should be ready within one year.

“AMAGGI has been operating in Rondônia since 1997, at the Porto Público facilities. And, in 2014, the Transshipment Station was constructed in Portochuelo. Since the beginning of 2020, we have been investing in fertilizer operations, focusing on meeting the demand of agricultural producers. In the fertilizer segment alone, investments will be in the order of R$ 102 million and will facilitate access to quality products for surrounding farmers – not only for corn, soybeans, and cotton, but also cocoa, rice, coffee, and others in Rondônia and neighboring states such as Acre, Amazonas, and Mato Grosso”, stated Carvalho.

The Portochuelo terminal currently has a structure for unloading fertilizers received via ferries on the Madeira River, with logistics and storage on land. The mixing plant to be built at the Portochuelo terminal should be AMAGGI’s second unit of this nature with the potential to serve rural producers in Rondônia. The first unit was the Comodoro (MT) mixing plant, located just 100 kilometers from Vilhena (RO).
