In March 2025, Amazonas recorded US$1.42 billion in its Trade Flow, comprising the state’s exports and imports. During the period, exported volume totaled US$65.84 million, while imports—responsible for supplying inputs to the Manaus Free Trade Zone and local commerce—amounted to US$1.36 billion, according to data released by the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology, and Innovation (Sedecti).
Among the month’s highlights, Argentina stood out as the main destination for exports from Amazonas, primarily driven by shipments of motorcycles and other cycles with reciprocating piston engines. This product accounted for 64.81% of exports to Argentina, totaling US$ 5.47 million.
Germany ranked second among the countries importing products from Amazonas, with semi-manufactured gold (in other forms) standing out. It reached US$7 million and represented 90.25% of exports to the European country.
In the area of imports, China maintained its position as the main source of goods entering the state, with particular emphasis on other recorded media. Imports valued at US$93.28 million, or 15.34% of the total imported, stood out. In second place, the United States stood out with imports of ethylene and alpha-olefin copolymers, totaling US$17.71 million (accounting for 18.03% of imports from the U.S.).
Interior Regions
In March, Presidente Figueiredo (located 117 kilometers from Manaus) led the state’s exporters, mainly through shipments of ferroalloys to China valued at US$ 3.39 million. Itacoatiara (176 kilometers from the capital) ranked second, with exports of soybeans, even crushed, amounting to US$ 1.94 million, destined for Thailand. In terms of imports, Itacoatiara also stood out with the purchase of petroleum oils or oils from bituminous minerals from Russia, totaling US$ 16.44 million.
Another highlight in imports was the municipality of Rio Preto da Eva (57 kilometers from Manaus), which registered US$335,880 in purchases of ethylene polymers in primary forms imported from the United States.
According to Sedecti’s economic advisor, Alcides Neto, the figures reflect the vitality of the local industry. “The data show the strength of the Manaus Free Trade Zone as a driving force of Amazonas’ economy, with the growth of activity in the Industrial Hub,” he stated.
Strategic Monitoring
The Department of Statistics and Geoprocessing (Degeo), part of the Executive Secretariat for Planning (Seplan) under Sedecti, produces trade balance data monthly. The study aims to monitor the state’s foreign trade evolution and assist in formulating economic development strategies.
The Sedecti website has an interactive panel with the complete Trade Balance data for Amazonas. To access it, visit balanca.sedecti.am.gov.br/balanca. Additional information and publications can be found at www.sedecti.am.gov.br, under the “Indicators and Maps” section.
