ANDA: Fertilizer Deliveries Increased by 5.5% in November 2024

The National Association for Fertilizer Distribution (ANDA) reports that fertilizer deliveries to the Brazilian market totaled 4.21 million tons in November 2024, a 5.5% increase compared to 3.99 million tons in 2023. From January to November, total deliveries reached 42 million tons, reflecting a 0.5% decline from 42.21 million tons in the same period of the previous year.

The state of Mato Grosso, the leader in market deliveries, accounted for the highest volume during the analyzed period (20.8%), reaching 8.74 million tons. It was followed by Rio Grande do Sul (4.88 million), Paraná (4.64 million), São Paulo (4.50 million), Minas Gerais (4.23 million), Goiás (3.96 million), and Bahia (2.87 million).

Domestic Production

Domestic production of intermediate fertilizers in November 2024 reached 621,000 tons, representing a 1% increase compared to the same month in 2023. From January to November, total domestic production stood at 6.61 million tons, a 3.5% rise from 6.39 million tons in the same period of the previous year.

Imports

Imports of intermediate fertilizers in November 2024 totaled 4.41 million tons, showing a 10.3% increase compared to the same month in 2023 when imports reached 3.99 million tons. From January to November, total imports amounted to 37.90 million tons, a 6.5% increase over the 35.58 million tons imported during the same period in 2023.

9.35 million tons of fertilizers were imported through the Port of Paranaguá, the main entry point for fertilizers, reflecting a 10.6% increase compared to 2023. That year, 8.45 million tons were unloaded at the terminal, accounting for 24.7% of the total imports through all ports (source: Siacesp/MDIC).
