Anec increases its export estimative for soybeans and decreases it for corn
Dec, 28, 2021 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202150
The National Association of Cereal Exporters (Anec) increased to 2.777 million tons its soybean export estimative, an upward adjustment of 0.3% compared to the forecast released last week.
The calculation takes into account the activities scheduled to take place in ports year-round. Compared to the volume registered in December 2020 (161 thousand tons), the growth was 1,624%.
Thus, the organization’s export estimative is that Brazil will end the year having exported 86.88 million tons of soy, which is 5.6% more than last year and a new historical record.
Check below a chart in which the Brazilian exports of soybeans, soy bran and corn in the last three years are put in comparison. Data are from DataLiner:

Soybean meal
In the case of soybean meal, also referred to as soy bran, Anec’s projection for shipments in December was adjusted by almost 5%, to 1.682 million tons – 50% more than in December 2020.
In 2021 as a whole, Anec estimates that total shipments are at 17.016 million tons, an increase of 1.2% compared to last year’s volume.
Corn
In terms of corn exports, on the other hand, the association downsized its initial estimative by 11.8%, back to 3.454 million tons. It means a decrease of 9.6% in relation to the volume exported in December 2020, which reflects this year’s failure in yielding good crop results due to weather problems.
Thus, total corn shipments this year are estimated at 20.68 million tons, 2.2% less than last week’s forecast and as a result of a drop of almost 40% compared to 2020.
