The Angra dos Reis Port Terminal (TPAR), controlled by the Splenda Port group, resumed handling general cargo after turning exclusively offshore. The operation which started on the 13th will export 1,700 tons of steel tubes to an offshore project in Asia. The cargo is expected to leave the port at the end of October.
“We have the expertise and skilled labor to operate general cargo. The objective is that from now on, these operations will intensify. The support of the Angra dos Reis city hall has also been fundamental for the recovery of TPAR and the consequent generation of income for the municipality”, emphasizes Cléber Silva, commercial director of TPAR. The Port of Angra is receiving via road the tubes that will be exported by the ship of an important player in the international transport segment. The vessel is expected to leave TPAR around October 27th.
A series of operational and structural changes have been made at the Angra Port Terminal. TPAR acquired a fluids plant and hopes to expand the terminal’s draft from 8.5 meters to 10 meters this year. All these transformations aim to expand the capacity of the Port of Angra to operate with larger ships.
