In a joint inspection operation at the Port of Imbituba on the night of November 24th, the Federal Police, with the support of the Military Police of Santa Catarina, made an important drug seizure. Agents located 130 kg of cocaine concealed in the hull of a ship, specifically in the sea chest of the vessel.
This action is part of a series of inspection operations on ships docked and anchored in the ports of Santa Catarina. The initiative aims to combat drug trafficking, especially following recent cases of narcotics found floating in the waters of the region.
Considered a high-risk activity, the operation involved specialized divers from BOPE, the Special Operations Battalion of the Military Police. Under the coordination of the Federal Police, the divers inspected various ships in the port, resulting in the discovery of four bundles of cocaine in the hull of one of them.
The Federal Police will launch an inquiry to investigate and identify those responsible for the crime of transnational drug trafficking, intensifying security and inspection measures at the state’s ports.
