During the 558th Ordinary Board Meeting of Brazil’s National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) on Thursday, February 1st, the state agency agreed to launch public hearings and consultations to mark the onset of the concession process for an area within the Port of Itajaí/Santa Catarina state.
These phases of public participation precede the actual bidding process and aim to collect contributions, feedback, and suggestions to refine the technical and legal documents associated with the bidding process.
Highlighting ANTAQ’s commitment to revitalizing port activities, Director Wilson Lima Filho stated, “We are working to expedite this process, particularly for those eager to witness the growth and recovery of the Port of Itajaí/SC at the earliest possible time.”
Lima Filho incorporated suggestions from the process’s reviewer, Director Alber Vasconcelos, into the vote. This includes, among other considerations, a reevaluation, during the public consultation period, of the proposal for applying the maximum price. This is especially relevant as it involves a joint bid for both the concession area and waterway access.
Mr. Filho assures that these new analyses will be conducted promptly to integrate them into the tender draft, marking the beginning of public participation in the bidding process.
