ANTAQ approves ‘temporary use’ rule at organized ports
Dec, 10, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202147
On December 9th, ANTAQ (the national waterway transport agency) approved the proposal to regulate the “temporary use” rule in organized ports. The norm aims to regulate the temporary contracting of port areas and facilities located in the port’s polygonal for cargo handling with an unconsolidated market.
With the approval, it will be possible to test new cargoes that have not been explored until then in port areas, enabling the creation of new logistical corridors for foreign trade and coastal shipping. In addition, the measure will provide greater legal certainty for this type of contracting by the ports.
The new articles that will be included in ANTAQ Normative Resolution No. 7/2016 will boost investments in organized ports. In addition, the agency will develop a simplified selection process and rules for temporary use in the proposed Regulatory Agenda for the 2022-2024 triennium. The process was reported by Director Flavia Takafashi.
