The National Waterway Transporation Agency (Antaq) has opened this Monday (31) the public consultation regarding the privatization of the Port of Santos (SP). Interested parties have until March 16 to contribute exclusively by the electronic form available on the internet.
“If the interested party does not have the necessary resources to send the contribution via electronic form, he may do so using the computer of this agency’s General Secretariat (SGE) in Brasilia (DF), or in its regional units, the addresses of which are available on the Antaq portal.” “Interested parties will be able to view the contributions received on the agency’s website,” Antaq stated in a note.
Concession
According to the agency, the concession period for the port terminal will be 35 years and will be renewable for another five years. The planned investments to adapt the port’s infrastructure will total R$ 16 billion and must be disbursed in a scattered manner throughout the contract term.
The initial grant will be R$ 1.383 billion, “in addition to a variable contribution to the Granting Authority equivalent to 2.25% per year on the consolidated gross revenue”, informs Antaq.
The future concessionaire will also be responsible for paying an annual inspection fee of R$ 6.422 million to Antaq. This amount will pay for the inspection and regulation work in the concession model.
Also according to Antaq, lessees, holders of Transition Contracts, shipowners, freight forwarders, port operators, owners of Private Use Terminals at the port complex, and railway concessionaires operating in the Port of Santos, will be able to participate in the bidding process “but with a share limitation of 15% for individual participation and 40% as part of a consortium ”.
